Allotments in Runnymede

Sweetpeas grown for its flowersThere are 13 allotment sites in the Borough and these provide 594 individual plots. Some sites are managed directly by the Council, which means the letting of plots and site maintenance is dealt with by Council Staff. Other sites are 'self managed' which means that they are run by an association formed of the plot holders themselves.

Sweetcorn grown at Boshers AllotmentsThe 'self managed' sites lease the site from the Council and take control of its day to day running. This benefits them by allowing them to set their own rental fee for plots and gives them control of most of the maintenance. The Council is keen to encourage the move to self management for all of its allotment sites and if any existing plot holders wish to explore this option, they should contact the Parks and Amenities Manager in the first instance.
