The voluntary and community groups in Runnymede are highly valued and this is reflected in the Council's financial support of over £400,000 annually in Grant Aid.
Thanks to the commitment of the volunteers and paid staff the work of these groups and organizations is wide ranging providing health and social care services, transport, information and advice and social activities for young and old for example. The Runnymede Compact (an agreed way of working between the Council and the Voluntary and Community groups) has been in place for nearly two years and has further enhanced joint working with the Council.
Runnymede Rentstart provides assistance to homeless couples and single people who need help in securing privately rented accommodation. The assistance is by way of a deposit bond, which is given to the landlord in order to secure accommodation for the client.
