Paying your Council Tax directly over the web is very easy and quick. You can make payments direct to the Council through our own on-line payment facility.
Please have your Council Tax account number ready. This is an 8 digit number beginning with an 8 and can be located at the top right hand corner of your Bill. You only need to input the first 7 digits of your Council Tax account number.
Your monthly instalment plan is shown on the bottom of your Council Tax Bill. Please remember that you must pay the amount shown on your bill on or before the 1st of each month. A full year's Council Tax is payable over 10 monthly instalments if the demand is issued on or before 30th April each year.
If you are having difficulties locating the number or have any other queries, please contact a member of the Council Tax Section on 01932 425417.
You will also need to have your Credit/Debit Card to hand. The following cards are accepted: Visa, Mastercard, Switch, Solo, Visa Delta.
VISA and MasterCard have created a higher standard of security for online card transactions, called Verified by Visa (VBV™) and MasterCard SecureCode (MCSC™) respectively.
When you attempt to make a payment through our web site using a VISA card or MasterCard and some debit cards, you will now be taken to the secure site of your card issuer and asked to verify your card details by confirming a password.
The first time you try to make a payment you will be asked to set up your details, i.e. your card details, date-of-birth and a password that you will need to use every time you make a payment via our web site.
Once you have verified your card, you will be brought back automatically to the Internet payment site to complete your transaction.
Why has the Council introduced this?
These verification processes provide an extra layer of protection when using credit and debit cards online. As we take your card security very seriously, we want to provide the highest possible levels of security on our site.
How secure will my password be?
Runnymede Borough Council has no knowledge of, or access to, your VBV™ or MasterCard SecureCode™ password at any time. This is why you are asked to submit your password to your card issuer directly, over a secure link. The Council system does not see or store your password.
What does the 'Authorisation request failure' message mean?
It means that your card issuer has not managed to verify your card successfully. Please call your card issuer for assistance and try to donate again later.
