Funding guidelines for tenants groups

Runnymede Borough Council will make available a maximum of £1,000 annually for recognised tenants and residents groups.

Funding can be applied for in quarterly instalments using the Funding Request pro forma. The group must demonstrate that £250 has been spent in the previous quarter on activities helping to run the groups activities. The group is still free to continue to raise their own funds or apply for funds elsewhere.

At each request the treasurer will need to produce up to date bank account statements, receipts for expenditure and accurate accounting records held in an accounts book.

The Treasurer should hold all the financial details and the bank books and account details.

The financial accounts should be in the groups name and not an individuals name. There should be a minimum of two signatories and from two different households.

Funding must be spent on the groups activities and demonstrate that the expenditure has helped the group to carry out activities to help all the residents, e.g. producing newsletter, Children's competition,

The Treasurer must give a report to each committee meeting and show the accounts to ensure openness and flag up any financial issues early on.
