Collection Day Changes for Refuse Rounds
Please be advised that from Monday, 30 June 2008, the day we collect your household refuse may change.
Recycling collection days will not change.
The rescheduling exercise has been undertaken to make more efficient use of the Council's refuse vehicles by reducing mileage and addressing the worsening problem of access to many streets in the Borough due to parked vehicles.
Here is a reminder of how the household refuse service works:
Please present your bin on the boundary of your property by 6.00am on the morning of collection and ensure the bin lid is closed.
To encourage full use of the kerbside recycling service, waste bags left at the side of your bin (side waste) will not be collected.
There will be no collections on Bank Holiday Mondays, the crews will work longer hours on the following days to catch up, including Saturday if necessary. Please present your bin on the boundary of your property on the normal day. However, if your usual collection day is Monday please put your bin out by 6.00 am on Tuesday.
The Changes can be found by searching the alphabetical list below. Our customer services staff can answer queries on the Refuse Freephone 0800 0962028, and by email at refuse@runnymede.gov.uk
From 30 June to 7 July inclusive, if your collection is more than seven days after your last collection, the crew will take two bags of excess household waste. The bag must be securely tied and left beside your wheeled bin.
There are some materials we have to prohibit from being put in the wheeled bin for safety reasons or because they damage the vehicles. These include liquids, such as waste oil and paint, brick rubble and metal bars. These can be taken to an amenity site which are located at Lyne Lane, Lyne, Martyrs Lane, Woking and Charlton Lane, Shepperton.
We can arrange to collect unwanted furniture, for bulky household items there is a fee of £31.65 for up to three items, an additional charge of £10.55 is made for each additional item. The fee for fridge or freezers to be collected is £31.65 each incl VAT. Please contact Runnymede Depot on 01932 425750 or 01932 425776 for more details. One free collection in a 12 month period is given for those residents in receipt of means tested benefits e.g. income support.
