Runnymede Smoke Free Charter Sub-Group
The Runnymede Smoke Free Charter Sub-Group is a multi-agency group which has been set up by Runnymede Borough Council and reports to the Local Strategic Partnership. The aim of the group is to support the implementation of the Health Protection and Improvement Bill which proposes a smoking ban in public places.
The group has identified 3 main areas for joint working:
Junior and Secondary Schools
Letters will be sent to Head Teachers to ask Board of Governors to adopt the charter and encourage/provide opportunities for school age children who smoke to reduce/stop smoking.
Restaurants
A pack of information will be provided for restaurants to assist on how become smoke free restaurant and workplace before the legislation is implemented.
Local Businesses
To work with the Chamber of Commerce and local businesses on the development of smoke free policies in the workplace.
