Active Surrey Sports Partnership

Making Surrey a more active and successful sporting county.

Active Surrey Sports Partnership works with partners from across sport, health and schools to help individuals get more from their involvement in sport and encourage participation at quality local sports clubs. We involve Surrey's clubs, Local Authorities, Education Services, Schools & Sports Governing Bodies, all working in partnership to give individuals local opportunities for participation, competition and skills improvement in a high quality and safe environment. We also provide discounted training courses & workshops for Coaches and Club Officials and the "Club mark" Accreditation Scheme is used to support clubs and help raise their standards.

Surrey Young Coaches and Officials (SYCO) Programme is in its fourth year of running courses for 14-19 year olds in Surrey. It offers a range of different courses:
Coaching courses are designed to enable youngsters to take their first steps on the coaching ladder.  They cover elements such as communication skills and sports drills, and are a great 'bolt-on' to any leadership course (e.g. CSLA, Duke of Edinburgh, etc).
Officiating courses are designed to allow participants to learn the basics of umpiring or refereeing. They provide a great opportunity to develop a range of skills and will give young people the confidence to go out there, take charge and officiate!
Generic courses teach information that is integral to all sports.  These are courses such as First Aid, Sports Psychology & Physiology, Coaching Styles, etc.  They allow attendees to start building up a bigger picture about improving their sport through coaching & officiating.
