Welcome to the Runnymede Local Development Framework (LDF) home page.
The LDF will eventually replace the current Local Plan as the principal guide to future development in Runnymede up till 2026.
On this page, you can find information regarding the Council's progress on the emerging LDF and view all relevant documents.

The Planning Portal website gives a comprehensive guide to the structure and content of LDFs.

IMPORTANT NOTE: All information on this page relates to current LDF work; the council formerly withdrew the previous Core Strategy in 2007.

Core Strategy
The Core Strategy sets out the council's broad strategic approach to shaping the future of the borough.

Updated Timetable for progression of the Local Plan Core Strategy
At the 22 February Planning Committee, the recommended way forward for progressing the Local Plan Core Strategy was agreed.

The draft submission document will be consulted on in June/July 2012. Submission to Secretary of State is intended to take place in November 2012, and Examination in Public of the document will be around May 2013. The adoption of the Local Plan Core Strategy is planned for December 2013.

At the 7 March Planning Committee, the Planning Committee approved the February 2012 changes to the Runnymede Borough Council Local Development Scheme, details of which will be made available on our planning web pages at a later date. This will include Development Management Development Plan Documents (DPDs) and Supplementary Planning Documents.

August 2010 update
Since coming to power the coalition Government have made a number changes which have affected the planning system including the revocation of the South East Plan which set out the number of new homes which Runnymede was expected to provide over the next 20 years in favour of a more local approach.

Due to this change the Council is considering the best way in which to take forward its Core Strategy. Changes will be published on the website once a new timetable has been agreed. For further information please refer to the Planning Committee Report 14th July 2010.
