Contact the Elderly
'Contact the Elderly' groups organise gatherings for older people who live alone. One Sunday afternoon a month, volunteer drivers take a group of around 8 older people to a tea party at the home of a volunteer host. Each group visits a different home every month and spends a few hours in the company of friends, old and new.
The charity is intending to set up two groups in Runnymede - Chertsey and Addlestone and is actively seeking coordinators for both groups as well as volunteer drivers (one Sunday afternoon a month) and hosts (to host a tea party for around 8 elderly twice a year) in order to maintain and develop their work in the community. They would also be pleased to receive referrals concerning older people who would like to join in these afternoon outings.
